Member of the Month - July 2026
Dear Rachel
Congratulations on being named Member of the Month. We’ve noticed your consistency in training, and we’re impressed by your determination to improve in specific areas. You set clear goals for yourself and stay committed to achieving them. On top of that, you always bring positive energy to the class and are an integral part of our community.
Could you briefly introduce yourself?
I'm a 47-year-old mom of two boys who love sports (floor hockey), and I work part-time.
Is there anything about you that would surprise a lot of people?
Maybe because I did my military service?
How and when did you start your CrossFit journey? And why CrossFit, of all things?
In 2024, my friend Dolores suggested we do a HYROX together. She works out at a different gym. I agreed on the spot and started training on my own. After that, I got really into it and wanted to work on my weaknesses (I’m still working on those). At the end of 2025, I found Zurich Nord CrossFit through a Google search. The class times were a perfect fit, so I reached out and booked a trial class.
Did it take a lot of effort for you to sign up for your first trial workout?
Yes, it did. I'm not usually the type to try something new on my own at an unfamiliar location. It helped that I'd already completed a HYROX Double beforehand, so I wasn't a complete newbie. But my concerns were unfounded. The community is just awesome!
What goals have you already achieved in your training, and what's still on your bucket list?
Achieved: a certain level of consistency in my training that I'd like to maintain.
Bucket list: A single HYROX. A HYROX Double Mixed with my sons as soon as they reach the minimum age.
Handstand, pistol squat, pull-up... I've still got a lot of work to do. :)
How do you go about achieving your goals?
I write down my goal to make it visible. Depending on the situation, I define the steps and small challenges along the way.
→ My motto for nearly 30 years: If I can dream it, I can do it.
Do you have any routines that help you in your daily life? Can you describe them?
Two glasses of tap water in the morning after getting up and brushing my teeth while squatting deeply. I'd like to incorporate more routines into my daily life. I'm working on it.
What do you like most about being a member of our community?
The enthusiasm that comes from the entire community and the mutual motivation.
What advice would you give to someone who's thinking about starting CrossFit?
Don't hesitate—just get started. Every level has its place. There's no need to worry.
