Member of the Month - April 2026

Dear Sarah,

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations on being named Member of the Month

You've been a member here for 1.5 years now, and I still remember very well how, shortly after you started, you took part in the CrossFit Open just out of curiosity, with such a carefree attitude. Your open and cheerful nature makes you a valuable part of our community.

Can you introduce yourself in a few sentences?
I’m from Bülach, work for Swiss’s aviation medical service, and am studying medical informatics part-time at ZHAW in Winterthur. For a change of pace, I always look forward to working out and spend as much time as possible outdoors. In Switzerland, that often means hiking and camping, and when I’m on vacation by the sea, I go diving.

How did you get into CrossFit back then?
One of our coworkers found out about the boot camp online, and the four of us signed up. After the boot camp ended, I enjoyed it so much that I stuck with it right away and kept going.

Do you have a background in sports? If so, what kind?
I’ve tried out various sports over the years, including yoga, Pilates, and strength training. However, none of them really inspired me enough in the long run for me to stick with them permanently. With CrossFit and HYROX, it’s different—I really enjoy both, which is why I’ve stuck with them. I’ve also been running for a while now, and that’s become a regular part of my daily routine as well.

What do you like most about CrossFit?
I especially like the variety, both in terms of strength and endurance. You can often see your progress clearly—you can tell that the effort is worth it. :)

You’re always trying out new sports (even competing right away) without seeming fazed at all. How do you tackle new challenges?
I try not to overthink it, but just give things a try. I see new challenges as an opportunity to learn something and push my comfort zone. A pragmatic “What’s the worst that could happen?” attitude helps me with this, because you often realize that not much can actually go wrong.

Who or what has particularly inspired or motivated you at the box?
I’m especially inspired by the community’s willingness to help. Both members and coaches are happy to offer tips and support one another, no matter what level you’re at. I find it particularly motivating that we celebrate each other’s successes together—even the small steps forward. This sense of togetherness creates a positive atmosphere where you enjoy working out and pushing yourself to new heights.

What would you say to someone who's afraid to try CrossFit?
Everyone started from scratch at some point, and nobody cares how much you can lift. The community pushes you rather than judging you.

At first, everything hurts, but it gets better—or you just get used to it. One or the other!
